right, so it sounds to me like the checkbox in settings is the part that is broken.
like it should not be controlling whether the job actually gets published on creation, just whether the checkbox (on the create form) is checked or not (by default).

well ok then
after a very long time, the zip file extraction starts puking, instead of unzipping files
perhaps there is in fact something wrong with that zip!
